What is Low-level Laser Hair Restoration Therapy?
This advanced, non-surgical laser protocol has been specifically designed for individuals who are suffering from hair loss (also known as alopecia), and has been shown to stimulate hair regrowth, quell hair loss and restore their confidence.
Our laser treatment works by accessing the very base of the follicle, from where the hair is growing. By acting at the cellular level we are able to reverse the tragic process of follicular miniaturisation. The results are proven and efficient – you will lose less of your existing hair and begin to experience new growth.
Why choose us for your laser hair restoration?
We are thrilled to be amongst the very first practitioners in the United Kingdom to offer this revolutionary treatment, and we utilise only the best equipment and treatment methods available around the world. This includes treatment that is provided to the exact FDA approved specifications of power output and wavelength energy, guaranteeing you the best, completely safe and most efficient results for your time and monetary investment.
How important is early intervention?
We cannot overstate the importance of early intervention – the earlier you start your laser hair restoration, the better results you will experience. By the time you notice your hair loss, your alopecia is already at a stage that should be of concern, and you should act as quickly as possible. Many people that would have been great candidates for our treatment five years ago are no longer candidates today. If the follicles are dead there is nothing that can be done to bring them back.
Baldness, thinning hair and pattern hair loss is progressive and will continue unabated without prompt treatment – it is imperative that you seek our services as soon as possible.

What is a hair?
At the base of every hair follicle cells are dividing regularly. Whenever a cell divides, one half goes on to live and function while the other dies and becomes a proteinous substance called keratin. This continuous process forms a sort of “conveyor belt” and the dead keratinised cells begin to form a hair strand. In order for hair to grow, this process must continue unhindered and unabated.
While we regularly produce new strands of hair, humans are born with all of the hair follicles that they will ever have – we do not produce new follicles. This means that we need to take good care of the ones we have. Brunettes tend to have fewer hairs (around 80, 000) that are thicker in volume, while blondes have far more follicles (around 150, 000), yet their hairs are thinner in circumference.
What causes hair loss?
Our hair is composed of dead keratinised cells from our body, and as a result it contains trace elements of everything that you consume during the growth period – this is the reason why hairs are often used for drug tests and/or toxicology analysis.
Average, healthy people lose an average of 80 to 150 strands of hair per day, but these falling strands are not the cause of pattern balding, hair loss or thinning. The true cause is follicular miniaturisation, a process that occurs when cell division begins to slow and hairs begin to grow thinner at a cellular level. As a result, the follicles begin to shrink around the hair, and eventually production stops completely. The existing hairs appear shaggy and lacklustre, and eventually they fall out, never to regrow.
What causes follicular miniaturisation?
One of the primary causes of hair loss is DHT (Dihydrotestosterone), a testosterone by-product that is created in everyone’s body. While we all have DHT, some people produce too much, leading it to be broken down at the receptor sites that are found in the prostate (for men) and on the crown, apex and frontal areas of the scalp (for both men and women).
For men, testosterone levels tend to increase in the teen years, concurrent with puberty, and for women they tend to increase before and during menopause, usually around 35-40. (A hormonal imbalance condition, such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, can trigger increased testosterone earlier.) As the body works to combat the DHT present in the scalp, important nutrients, energy and cells are diverted from the production of new hair. In effect, the DHT is starving new hair growth as it uses the resources normally used to maintain and produce thick, healthy hair.
What are the psychological effects of hair loss?
Thinning hair can have devastating psychological effects on both men and women, whether young or old. Those suffering from alopecia of any kind can lack self-esteem, lose their self-confidence and experience depression, particularly when a myriad ‘over the counter’ products and solutions do not provide any favourable results.
Using a combination of wavelengths our system can effectively stimulate hair follicles and ‘resuscitate’ approximately 80% of the hair follicles which is in the state of hibernation.
In addition to this the treatment improves the health of the scalp and can regulate oil secretions which can also result in hair loss.
Our system also utilises LED light during the treatment. Each coloured light is of a different wavelength and has a specific indication;
Red light increases cell activity, promote cells metabolism, increases blood flow and controls oil secretion.
Yellow light with wavelength 580 nm can ease and effectively treat a sensitive scalp.
Blue light effectively kills pathogenic bacteria, hidden fungi and mites deep in the hair follicles.
- Alopecia Telogen Effluvium – This type of hair loss can be caused by trauma to the body, and often become apparent within 6-12 months after the incident. This trauma can include child birth, fever, illness, surgery or an accident.
- Androgenic Alopecia – This hormonal pattern hair loss is usually genetic, and is the most common amongst our clients. LLLT is an excellent option for this kind of hair loss.
- Traction Alopecia – This hair loss is caused by excess weight and a prolonged physical pulling of the hair, usually due to hair extensions, weaves and braids.
- Alopecia Areata – This form of balding is usually triggered by stress and/or auto-immune conditions. While this may be harder to treat, LLLT can often be of help.
A course of laser hair restoration therapy will usually take place over the course of six to twelve months as hair grows slowly over time. For some forms of alopecia a shorter duration can often be possible, depending on your assessment. You can often achieve quicker results by combining your treatments with mesotherapy injections and scalp stimulating LED massage.
Your initial twelve week intensive therapy process will usually be comprised of a weekly 30 minute treatment which can be combined with mesotherapy for quicker results or a 60 minute treatment once a fortnight.
While these are the normal phases, we can often work within your specific budgetary and scheduling needs. Once you begin to see results, a maintenance plan will be devised to help you retain your new hair growth for the long term.
Your practitioner will recommend a series of products that are an integral aspect of your treatment package. This will include special shampoos designed to remove excess oil and sebum from the hair follicle so that the laser can penetrate the base more easily. This shampoo will also help to reduce the time that your hair spends in the telogen (shedding) phase. Specially designed vitamin compounds, supplements and hair styling products will also be recommended. Remember – your nutrition is also very important! Consult with us for more information.
Is this treatment painful?
Not at all. Most of our clients report that this treatment is completely painless and that the appointment is actually a relaxing experience akin to spa treatment.

Is this treatment expensive?

Our clients report that this treatment has saved their confidence, well-being and appearance, and that the cost was definitely worth every penny. Your consultation process will determine the exact cost of your programme, and we offer various financing options based on this diagnosis. LLLT costs only a small fraction of hair transplant surgery, and can often have better results with less invasiveness.
Can I Use Laser Therapy with My Transplants?
Absolutely. LLLT is often used post operatively in order to reduce scarring and ensure a higher success rate for hair transplant procedures. Laser therapy is world renowned and internationally recognised as a treatment to help heal wounds of all types.
Can I use Laser Hair Therapy with other Treatments?
You can combine laser therapy with oral and topical therapy treatments with no problems or side effects. In fact, a comprehensive treatment plan that includes other options can often help individuals achieve excellent results in less time than the LLLT alone.
